How about some walking meditation?
“Yes...yes... this sitting meditation stuff is all well and good...but how about some walking meditation?...I’ve heard that’s very good for you as well...and of course very good for me too........so come on! shake a leg!”
I drew the first version of this a couple of years ago and have since redrawn it twice. With this most recent reworking I increased the range of tones and also zoomed in the picture a little.
Would you like to receive cartoons on a weekly basis?

Revised version - “The perils of rallying in Nordic Countries”
Here is a revised version of yesterday’s cartoon. Seeing is the theme is rallying, I thought I’d also try a night version.
Sally Squeegee cleans Dr. Zars Von Treacle’s laboratory
Once a month Sally Squeegee is employed to clean up the research laboratory of Dr. Zars Von Treacle - the mad scientists’ mad scientist.
Assisted as ever by Floyd the octopus, Sally’s tasks include general de-gunging , dusting the library of arcane texts, and scrubbing out the kraken enclosure. She also helps out when needed to return escaped specimens to their cages. Von Treacle insists on her leaving the dishes alone, despite the fact that they have been accumulating in the sink for the last twenty two years, as he is hoping to eventually perfect the process of harnessing the power of lightning to remove the grime.
Dr. Zars Von Treacle’s real name is actually Jasper Peabody, and is in fact the twin brother of Lionel Peabody the noted amateur naturalist. After being expelled from Cambridge due to blowing up the science lab, and accidentally setting fire to the chancellor’s car in the process, Jasper decided that he would forge his own path in science, unshackled from the needs and pressures of both academia and big pharma alike.
He decided that he wanted to answer the big questions in life, as well as to blow things up and attempt to animate new creatures. Feeling that the name Peabody wasn’t quite mad-sciency enough, and also not wanted his brother’s excellent reputation to be associated with such fringe endeavors, Peabody decided to change his name.
The name he chose was that of an obscure 15th century Prussian alchemist, Otto Von Treacle, who had attempted to make gold out of saw dust, pencil sharpenings and other common household clutter.
After dedicating his entire life to this thoroughly unsuccessful endeavor, he retired at the age of seventy to play golf. Known to enjoy playing in the middle of lightning storms, he was eventually struck by a bolt which had the effect of convincing him that he was in fact a Viennese opera singer. Remarkably, he went on to enjoy a third career and garnered ecstatic reviews from music lovers all over Europe.
I tried a slightly grungier version.
I added some stronger tones and darkened part of the background to help her stand out more.
The perils of Rallying in Nordic countries.
This week on the cartoon course we've been doing some work on guiding the eye, and thinking about how we can use lines to point the viewer's attention to details in the picture.
I've always liked the Lancia Martini liveried rally cars, and so thought I'd include this Lancia Rally 037, which won the Manufacturers title in 1983.

A revision to "Sally Squeegee cleans the Queen Gertrude"
For this revision I darkened the hull of the liner, so Sally would stand out more, and also changed the ropes to better guide the attention to her.

Sally Squeegee cleans the Queen Gertrude
For the maiden voyage of the Queen Gertrude, cleaner extraordinaire Sally Squeegee was hired to keep the liner in tip-top condition, both inside and out, throughout it's journey from Southampton.
Ably assisted as always by Floyd the octopus, Sally was often found dangling over the side of the ship keeping the still fresh paintwoek gleaming.
During the voyage Oscar the ostrich, pet of eccentric New York socialite Wanda Doolally, heiress to the Doolally pencil sharpener empire, managed to break free of the hold and ran amok throughout the ship. After assisting with Oscar's recapture, Sally was set the task of undoing the ostrichesque anarchy that had been unleashed throughout the desks. She managed to sweep up the last feather just as the Statue of Liberty hoped into view.
A revised version of yesterday's cartoon
Lionel Peabody investigates the feeding habits of giraffes.
In his African expedition in 2004, noted amateur naturalist Lionel Peabody, accompanied as ever by his faithful companion Reggie the honey badger, set off to investigate the dietary habits of giraffes.
Peabody eventually concluded two months that as well as their usual diet of leaves, giraffes were also fond of apples. He could have reached this conclusion on day two of the expedition if he had woken up during his after-dinner nap and caught the young rascal who was nicking his apples.
The Uses of Sea Python Ownership
The Sea Python is unusual in the snake world on that it can be trained.
Here keen Fisherwoman Betty Pilchard is taking it easy while Herbert her Sea Python does all the hard work.
Although a Sea Python's natural diet is fish, dog walkers are advised to keep a safe distance while strolling along the sea front if a Python is at work.

Three Things to Fix - Granny Mills to the rescue
In this new series I can going to look over some previous cartoons and find three things I can fix or change that would make for an even better cartoon.
Here are some of my suggested changes, I've also had some feedback from others that I'll post shortly.

The Red-spotted Dalmatian
The peak of the red-spotted Dalmatians popularity was during the swinging sixties, when the breed was in high demand for photo shoots for fashion magazines.
Parisian designer, Rene Oufcutte, used several of the dogs in the debut of her 1968 autumn collection that took the fashion world by storm. Such was the impact of the dogs that there was even talk of renaming the catwalk, the dog walk.
However in subsequent decades people seemed to get more and more concerned about health and for many it was difficult to shake the association of the dog with the measles, even though it was completely safe to be around. And so it was that interest in the red-spotted Dalmatian slowly but steadily declined.
In the world of fashion the dogs occasionally resurface, especially when polka dots come back into vogue.
Although no longer near as popular as it was, the red-spotted dalmatian retains a cult-like following among lighthouse keepers, who have a deep appreciation of the aesthetics of this most distinct of breeds.
-This is an extract from the full story about the Red-Spotted Dalmatian, from "Odd Dogs - a collection of lesser-known dog breeds". More on the Red-Spotted Dalmatian and other breeds to follow.
